Shank steak is one of those foods that requires a good deal of preparation in order to be able to truly taste it at it's best. Not unlike brisket, it takes a little time and care to coax the best from it.

Ingredients:

2-4 Shank Steaks

Sea Salt

Black Pepper

2 tsp. Garlic Powder

Worcestershire Sauce

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Sprinkle both sides of steaks with all spices.

Lay steaks out next to each other on a large piece of foil.

Sprinkle with Worcestershire sauce or add other liquid such as beef broth.

Close foil up tightly and place on a cookie sheet.

Place cookie sheet with steaks in oven and cook for 30 minutes.

Reduce oven temperature to 250 degrees and continue cooking for 1 1/2 hours.

Remove from oven and carefully open foil.

Place steaks on a hot grill for approximately 2 minutes on each side.

You are looking to get just a good sear on each side of the steaks. Don't over cook and dry them out.

Note:

If preferred steaks can be placed under the oven broiler instead of a grill but the flavor with not be quite as good.

Remove steaks from the grill or oven and let them rest about 3 to 5 minutes.

Serve with your favorite sauce or enjoy the beefy flavor au naturel.
